The 44th Annual Castlecomer Wellie race took place on Monday 1st January 2024.
The New Year’s Day event has run every year since it began in 1978 and has raised thousands for charities across Ireland and abroad.
The event began with a parade at 1pm, followed by the 5km race itself at 2.30pm.
Ger ‘Chubby’ Brennan, a Cork man who has been living in Castlecomer for the past 41 years, has been PRO of the event for many years.
With lots of fun and entertainment for all the family, a big crowd showed up on the day despite the miserable weather.
There were prizes for fancy dress and for the best floats in the parade.
