Planning permission for over 70 homes has been sought from Carlow County Council

Planning permission for over 70 homes has been sought from Carlow County Council.

Construction company Nesselside Builders has lodged the application for the homes on the Browneshill Road in Chapelstown.

The application was prepared by Tom Phillips and Associates, and details plans for 71 new houses, 14 of which will potentially be reserved for social housing.

The permission was sought on October 13th, with a decision on it due by December 7th.

The proposed development would include 57 two-storey homes, as well as apartments and bungalows.

10 four-bed homes, 35 three-bed homes, and 26 two-bed homes will be built, should permission be granted.

Multiple green spaces and bike shelters for residents have been included in the plans, alongside 148 car parking spaces.

The site the proposed development would be located on spans over six acres and is situated in the west of Carlow Town.

The CW1 and CW2 bus routes serve the area.

A pedestrian and cycle access lane connecting the housing development to Browneshill Rise to the west has also been included in the plans.

The application comes as part one of a three-part phase of a wider housing project being undertaken by the construction company.
