A popular road in a Carlow town will be temporarily closed for four days to allow resurfacing works to take place.

Carlow County Council announced on Facebook that the Long Range road in Bagenalstown will be resurfaced at some stage between May 5th and June 5th.

The road will be temporarily closed between the hours of 12.00 am and 11.59 pm.

The exact days the road will be closed are not known.

An alternative route will be made available via the Royal Oak Road, Barrett Street, and Regent Street.

Diversion signage will be provided to assist people using the road during the period in question.

Parking restrictions to facilitate works will also apply.

Directly affected premises will be advised of the exact times ahead of the closure, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

The announcement was made by the Council's Director of Services, Padraig O'Gorman.
