A comprehensive review of Carlow’s Bus Service is set to take place, with a public consultation phase happening next month

A review of the Carlow Town Bus Service will take place by the National Transport Authority three years after it was launched.

The NTA will examine feedback it has received from customers and data alreadly.

In October, a public consultation phase will get underway, giving the public an opportunity to make submissions on how the service can be improved.

“The Carlow Town Bus Service has been a huge success story in our town but we know there are some issues and improvements that could be made,” Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor

She added that the things she wants reviewed are the addition of a stop at Carlow Train Station, expanding the service to areas of the town currently not serviced, and ajustments to the current two bus routes, “particularly around having additional stops like on the Tullow Road and at Dunnes Stores.”

Carlow County Council had advised it would like to see similar, according to KCLR.

Some points it would like noted are the:

– Improvement/Closer Linkage of the Bus Service with Carlow Train Station

– Expansion of the Bus Service to areas of the town not currently being serviced

– Possible adjustments to the existing two bus routes in the Carlow town bus services

– Conversion of the bus fleet to non-fossil fuel usage, future requirements and depot locationRev

Many Carlow locals shared what improvements they would like to see in the comment section of Minister Murnane O’Connor’s post, with bus shelters at stops being a key feature they’d like to see.

Additional stops suggested include McDonald’s on the Wexford Road, the Tinryland petrol station, and the Burrin Road.
