Oh! Donuts on 47 High Street / James' Street in Kilkenny City will close their doors on Sunday, July 20

There is widespread shock and sadness in Kilkenny as city business Oh! Donuts have announced that they have made the difficult decision to close their doors this weekend.

On social media, they posted the following message: "Dear Customers, This is one of the hardest messages we've had to share.

"After pouring our hearts into creating Oh! Donuts and making it a must visit for a coffee and a sweet treat, we've had to make the difficult decision to close our doors on Sunday 20 July due to rising costs as well as realising the location's limitations which limits our growth needed to survive.

"We are grateful for the love and support you have shown us since we have opened. The many smiles, reviews and repeat business meant the world to us. We will always treasure the memories we made together.

"Thank you for being part of our donut journey."

Amongst those sharing their sadness at the announcement was nearby business La Bottega.

"We are very sorry to hear about your decision to close the shop," they stated.

"It’s been a real pleasure having you as a neighbor, your presence will definitely be missed.

"We know how much hard work and passion you put into your business, and we truly admire everything you've built."

The Cookie Co-Op, another city business, posted: "We are so sorry to read this guys. Wishing you the very best for what the next chapter brings ."
