Oasis (Freshford, County Kilkenny) and Urlingford Community Childcare to benefit from government’s €25 million Building Blocks scheme

Leas-Cheann Comhairle Deputy John McGuinness has welcomed significant government funding allocated to childcare services in Kilkenny.

The funding is part of a nationwide €25 million Building Blocks Expansion scheme, announced by Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Norma Foley.

The initiative aims to create 1,500 new childcare places through extensions to existing services and the development of new buildings.

Two Kilkenny projects have been selected for investment:

Oasis (Freshford, County Kilkenny) will receive €500,000

Urlingford Community Childcare will receive €226,000

Deputy McGuinness said the investment will have a lasting impact: “This is very needed funding and is great for each community that will benefit from it.”

The Building Blocks fund is designed to enhance early learning and childcare infrastructure across both community and private sectors nationwide.
