The North Quays Project Team have stated that main contract works are ‘progressing well’.
In relation to the planned sustainable transport bridge over the River Suir, the concrete infill stage for the first cofferdam is complete and the process for dewatering the second cofferdam is progressing.
Foundation works for the new train station and platforms on the Ferrybank side of the riverare also underway, with reinforced concrete walls also being constructed.
Sheet piling has also commenced to the rear of the Bus Éireann site in anticipation of the new road layout at the Abbey Road / Fountain Street junction.
Pump station works at Ferrybank are currently under construction by David Walsh Civil Engineering and are now ‘over 80% complete’.
Traffic management measures are in place along the Dock Road to install sewer and surface water network services.
Works and associated traffic management is now advancing westwards, necessitating amendments to traffic management to the Abbey Road / Fountain Street junction in the new year.
