Decision due soon on extension plans for hospital in Kilkenny

A decision is due by Wednesday (June 21) on extension plans for a hospital in Kilkenny.

UPMC Aut Even Hospital have lodged major plans for the extension of their hospital campus on the Freshford Road, on the outskirts of Kilkenny City.

The construction of a four-storey extension is planned to the rear of the existing hospital, to accommodate a new lift and associated lobbies.

Also planned is a single-storey extension to the front of the existing hospital to accommodate a café, two MRI imaging rooms and associated support accommodation.

Alterations to the rear and side elevations are sought as well as the construction of a single-storey link corridor to the rear of the existing hospital.
