Down Syndrome Ireland Kilkenny Branch have thanked Glanbia Nutritionals for their very generous contribution of €8,000.

The financial support goes directly towards providing vital services which support people with Down Syndrome and their families throughout Kilkenny.

Here are some of the activities that money raised goes towards

Speech and Language Therapy: This can be an area that many members need help with and it is not available through the HSE in many cases;

Music Therapy, which offers children space to explore and express their feelings, emotions and experiences through music. It gives the opportunity for both verbal and non-verbal communication. It will also be a class where siblings of our members can come and meet other siblings and have some fun;

Cookery Course for teens and adult members which promotes independence;

Funding toward Numicon maths kits for members - Numicon is a visual approach to teaching number skills. Given the visual strengths of many children with DS this is an effective aid in teaching number skills.

The support of Glanbia Nutritionals makes it possible for the organisation to work towards getting these activities up and running.

If you would like to get in touch with the Kilkenny Branch, please contact Aoife McKevitt (Secretary) on 087-6840663 or email [email protected]
