Excitement builds in Kilkenny community as race day event fast approaches!
All funds raised from the run go to Scoil Náisiúnta Chiaráin Naofa
The Stoneyford 5k and 10k events will be held on Sunday, May 19 with all funds raised go to Scoil Náisiúnta Chiaráin Naofa.
The long-running event has expanded to include a 5k and kids' 1k run over the years. With close to 400 runners expected again this year, the small village is sure to be a hive of activity on the day. The event is renowned for its post race refreshments and fun atmosphere. As well as running, there will be giant sized games on the grass for the kids and an ice cream truck.
Many love to walk the 5k and 10k distances also, with the sight of Kells Priory a real treat approaching the final 3k downhill.
Kilkenny City Harriers' Brian Maher's 2022 men's record of 30.50 will be difficult to beat. The ladies' longstanding 35.24 meanwhile, from Tipperary's Siobhán O'Doherty, might be worth an attempt by some of the stronger club runners around.
