Irish Wolfhound Boánn, fresh from her celebrity status as a model for Ireland’s new passport design, will accompany Grand Marshal Richie Power at this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade in Kilkenny.

Boánn is three years old, and is an excellent ambassador of the breed for the Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland (The Mother Club for Irish Wolfhound Clubs worldwide).

Boánn takes her name from the legendary warrior Goddess of the Boyne, who gave her name to the river which passes the great neolithic monument of Newgrange - Brú na Bóinne.

Irish Wolfhounds are Ireland’s oldest native dog breed and are famed for their great size, beauty, strength, courage and their loyalty to their owners.

They have been an iconic symbol of Ireland for thousands of years and are a unique living link to our most ancient past.
