Fury in Kilkenny community over polling station despite public pleas

Members of the Inistioge community previously wrote a letter to Kilkenny County Council
Efforts by members of the Inistioge community to move the village's polling station from St Colmcille's National School to the Cois Abhann building has been rejected by Kilkenny County Council.
People across the county will head to polling booths on Friday, October 24 to elect a new President of Ireland.
A spokesperson for the local authority said that there is "currently no requirement to change the existing location," adding, "St Colmcille's National School remains a suitable and well functioning venue for polling purposes." - FULL LETTER BELOW
In response, the Inistioge community group described the decision as a 'very disappointing outcome'.
"The letter from Kilkenny County Council communicating the decision of the County Registrar makes no reference to the key issue which is the disruption caused to parents and children when the school has to close for a day for voting," a community spokesperson said.
