St Thomas 0-18 O'Loughlin Gaels 0-17

Main Man

David Fogarty (O’Loughlin Gaels)

St Thomas had a number of star performers in David Burke, Eanna Burke and Conor Cooney but O’Loughlins played their part in a thrilling contest and the half-back line once again stood out as they scored six points from play in total. Paddy Deegan and Jordan Molloy played their part but 22 year-old David Fogarty’s stock continues to rise as the diminutive yet pacy defender knocked over a stunning point to equalise the game late on. He looks primed to make the step up to county fare in the coming months.

Talking Point

From a Kilkenny point of view, there’s only one talking point in the aftermath of the final and the ghost goal will be discussed for months to come in St John’s Parish.

Turning Point

James Regan’s second half dismissal served to drive on the victorious Galway side as O’Loughlins lost control of the contest.

Highlight

While it ultimately ended up in bitter disappointment, O’Loughlins can still look back on a very successful season where they reclaimed the Kilkenny Senior Hurling title for the first time since 2016 before then adding on a third provincial crown in their history.

Attendance

18,567
