Grennan College in Thomastown has received a major boost with initial project approval granted for a major extension to the school, Fine Gael TD, John Paul Phelan, has revealed.

“I’m delighted to confirm that initial project approval has been granted for an extension and refurbishment at the school,” he said.

“Additional school accommodation to be provided includes five mainstream classrooms, four special education and training rooms as well as reconfiguration works to provide two additional classrooms for pupils with additional needs.

“This is great news for Grennan College, for its management and staff and is a clear indication of this government’s commitment to supporting schools and services in rural areas.

“I’m delighted to announce the approval and will be keeping a close eye on the project to ensure it goes through all of the necessary approval phases as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

The announcement is the latest investment for Thomastown and follows hot on the heels of funding for additional library and community services in the area.
