'Heartbreaking' - Sadness in Kilkenny community as vandals wreck beloved swing

The swing is a great source of fun for kids and their parents in the large Kilkenny parish
Residents in Ferrybank have strongly criticised the actions of the culprits responsible for vandalising a well-loved swing.
The group were contacted by a parent in the area who worked in collaboration with Kilkenny County Council and the Ferrybank Community Development Residents Group to have an adaptive swing installed in the local park.
According to a social media post on a local residents' page, the swing acted as a calming influence on the parent and her five-year-old son, who has autism.
"It’s been enjoyed not only by her son, but by many children in the community," the post stated.
"Disappointing damage to a much-loved swing in Ferrybank Park.
"The swing has now been badly damaged. It’s heartbreaking to see something so valuable — especially for some of our most vulnerable children — treated in this way.
"We would ask everyone to please respect and look after the facilities in our park," they added.
"Let’s work together to ensure that Ferrybank remains a place where all children can feel safe, included, and able to enjoy simple moments like this.
