The novel fundraiser was the brainchild of Callan woman Valerie Kelly who is studying Social Care at the Waterford Institute of Technology.
The funds raised will be split between two local charities, The Good Shepherd Centre and Amber Women’s Refuge who both provide shelter and assistance for homeless people.
“We had a great response from the public and thankfully the weather was mild. We camped out from 7pm to 7am on Tuesday morning and when we were leaving the rain started to fall. The account is open until next Monday so we are hoping that people will continue to donate what they can for this very worthy cause,” she said.
Anyone wishing to donate to Project Homeless Kilkenny can do so by lodging at Allied Irish Bank on High Street - sort code: 93 31 98, account number 49388004.
