Iconic Kilkenny site to host series of talks next month

Three talks will take place over the course of November
St Canice’s Cathedral and Round Tower has announced a series of talks for the month of November.
On Thursday evenings from 6:30pm, scholars and professionals have been invited to share on topics reflecting the craftsmanship and detail within St Canice’s Cathedral.
The first of the series will take place on November 6; From Parchment to Replica: The Making of the Red Book of Ossory. Dr Susan Hood, Dr John Gillis and Timothy O’Neill will join an illuminating panel discussion on the book and the making of a facsimile.
November 13 sees invited guest Dr Michael Waldron, Curator of Collections and Special Projects at Crawford Art Gallery, Cork discuss the beautiful work of Irish Stained-Glass window artist; Harry Clarke: Imagining the Sacred and Profane.
Dr Waldron will explore the creative force of Clarke’s often dark and daring imagination in his pursuit of a new ethereal and carnal language.
Wrapping up the series of talks, Evan Connon, from Connon Stained Glass will speak on November 20. Fragments of Faith: Conservation of Ireland’s Stained Glass Legacy will lift the veil on the meticulous craft of stained glass restoration.
