The Kilkenny business is well known across the country

Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union began last Wednesday with one Kilkenny business set to play its part.

JJ Kavanagh has been appointed the exclusive official coach transport provider for the Government of Ireland during the country’s presidency.

Ireland has successfully held the Presidency seven times before, with ministers from all Member States coming together to adopt laws, coordinate policies and address shared challenges.

The Presidency rotates among the EU’s 27 Member States every six months. The presiding country chairs most Council meetings and helps guide the Council’s work.

“Over the next six months, our drivers and operations teams will help transport delegates attending official Presidency meetings and events throughout the country,” a company spokesperson.

“This is an incredibly proud moment for everyone at JJ Kavanagh, particularly as it marks the third time we've been selected for this prestigious role, having previously supported Ireland's EU Presidencies in 2004 and 2013.

“For more than 100 years we've been committed to providing safe, reliable and professional transport, and we're honoured to once again support an event of national importance,” they concluded.
