Kilkenny Chamber to host information event on major local infrastructure project

Public consultation for the plan ended last month
Kilkenny Chamber President Claire McInerney Brown is hosting a town hall meeting regarding the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for Kilkenny on Monday July 6 at 5pm in the city’s Ormonde Hotel.
The SUMP is designed to meet the mobility needs of people and businesses in and around Kilkenny City and on the Ring Road. The plan will introduce measures relating to how people move around the city.
This includes street design, public transport and safer walking, cycling, car and delivery truck infrastructure. The aim of the plan is to make Kilkenny a more vibrant, accessible, healthier and sustainable city for everyone.
Many of its recommendations are being implemented currently, and the Chamber President said she feels it is timely now for members to hear from Kilkenny County Council on the next stages.
She has invited Tim Butler, Director of Services, Stan Cullen, Acting Senior Engineer and Catriona Corr, Cycling Officer to discuss the plan and answer questions.
Ms McInerney Brown said: “The SUMP is a critical element of future planning for Kilkenny City, and it is important that as many members as possible engage with the process. I’m grateful to the officers from Kilkenny County Council who will attend on Monday evening, and I encourage all Chamber members to participate.”
