Kilkenny community left 'troubled' as horses die on local road

Gardaí in Kilkenny were alerted to an incident early on Friday morning
City based Labour Party councillor, Cllr Sean Ó hArgain has described the death of two horses on a local road last Friday morning as a 'huge concern to us all'.
Local gardaí confirmed that they had attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and two horses on the slip road at Junction 8 on the M9 Southbound at Kilkenny City at approximately 6am. No injuries to occupants of the vehicle were reported however the horses were deceased at the scene.
"I am deeply concerned and troubled by the events of Friday morning," Cllr Ó hArgain told Kilkenny Live.
"The death of a number of horses and the possibility that a driver could have been seriously injured or worse, are of huge concern to us all.
"Such incidents take place in rural communities at times, when animals break loose from fenced land and action should always be taken against the animal owners involved. I hope the Garda Síochána get to the bottom of this incident and act to ensure it can’t happen in the future," he added.
