Kilkenny community shows true Pride of Place
From the community notes inside this week's Kilkenny People
A large crowd flocked to the Community Hall in Johnstown recently for the screening of the much-anticipated Pride of Place video.
Many who were there gave very favourable feedback on the renovations carried out on the Hall during the past year.
The next part of the project involves the refurbishment of the seats on the balcony.
Many older people spoke fondly of the films shown there many years ago and hopefully will be shown again when the balcony is completed.
To this end Kilkenny County Council has granted the committee €15,000 but the work will cost €30,000.
To meet the shortfall it is planned to get each seat sponsored by an individual, family, group or members of the diaspora.
A sponsor name will be allotted to each seat. Closing date for same is November 29.
