Kilkenny Host "Heart of Gold" Campaign Launch

Family Carers Ireland’s new campaign is an innovative way to celebrate the invaluable contributions made by family carers all over Ireland. These carers account for over 500,000 people in Ireland and can often go unrecognised in the amazing work they do.

This campaign hopes to shed light and raise funds for the carers of Ireland and the vital role they play in society.

One woman, Lyndsey O’Donovan spoke of her experience caring for her son.

"I am Jack’s Mum and his carer,” she said. “Jack has cerebral palsy and needs 24/7 care.

Helping hand

“If people just realised that carers need a little hand to care, it would make our lives a lot easier. That’s what Family Carers Ireland do, they give family carers like me that helping hand. They provide the supports and services that I need to care for Jack safely.

“I know I’m not alone as I care for Jack at home,” she added. “They have been a lifeline for me and my family.”
