Marty Murphy grabbed a goal as Tullogher claimed a big victory.

Tullogher Rosbercon 1-25 Blacks and Whites 0-8

It was a game that was every bit as dominant as the scoreline suggests as Tullogher Rosbercon claimed a 20-point victory over Blacks and Whites in Graignamanagh.

The South Kilkenny outfit were in a different class to their opponents with a Marty Murphy goal late on putting some extra gloss on the scoreline for Tullogher but without ever having to go to their top level, they were much the better team in what proved to be a very disappointing affair in the end.

Marty Murphy’s second half introduction livened up the winners a bit as they were going through the motions which is also understandable given they led 0-12 to 0-4 at the break.

Andrew Murphy top-scored for Tullogher with 10 points as he continues to show well on the frees and with Danny Glennon and Jamie Lyng enjoying a good day in front of the posts, it was largely a positive afternoon for Tullogher.

The same can’t be said about Blacks and Whites and although they are without a few bodies at the moment, it’s definitely been a league campaign to forget thus far.

It all started so well for Blacks and Whites with John Lennon knocking over a point from distance in the opening minute.

The joy didn’t last long as they went scoreless for 25 minutes as Tullogher scored 11 points on the bounce and that was in theory the end of the game as a contest.

The equaliser came from Conor Hennessy and with Andrew Murphy proving deadly on placed balls and Walter Walsh, Danny Glennon, Ryan Murphy and Jamie Lyng all adding to the tally, the Tullogher lead read 0-11 to 0-1 approaching the interval.

Blacks and Whites did rise it with points from Ryan Murphy and Jamie Ryan but with Andrew Murphy landing his fifth of the half afterwards, eight points was the difference.

Like the first 30 minutes, the second equivalent was all one way traffic and they continued their tour de force with a further four points in succession.

Blacks and Whites halted the momentum briefly with a Ryan Murphy free and an effort from play by Sam Byrne but it wasn’t long till Tullogher went on another scoring spree.

Between the 48th and 60th minutes, Leigh O’Brien’s team rattled off another 1-7 without reply and before Marty Murphy got the long awaited Tullogher goal at the beginning of stoppage time, it looked as if that would be the big work-on ahead of the league break as they had a number of chances that they didn’t convert over the course of the hour’s action.

Even then it took three Murphy attempts before the net eventually nestled as he was well blocked beforehand.

His return is naturally a huge boost to Tullogher’s chances over the next few weeks and they look in good shape with automatic qualification to the championship quarter-finals still on their agenda.

Blacks and Whites rounded off the scoring with points from Edward Murphy and Ryan Murphy before the end and while a relegation battle awaits, the final league game with a St Martin’s team that have also lost all of their games to date could be of bigger importance than they originally thought as both look to avoid the drop in the near future.
