Niall Bergin has named his minor team to face Galway in the opening round of the Leinster Championship in UPMC Nowlan Park this afternoon.

The Cats were defeated by the Tribesmen on two different occasions last year however with a mostly new group there is hope that this current minor crop can best a county that they have failed to overcome at this grade since 2010.

Today's clash is the first of three group stage games for Kilkenny with further ties against Wexford and Dublin to come over the next fortnight.

With all four counties advancing to at least a provincial quarter-final come the end of the round-robin, there is ample time to try out players as the Noresiders look to kick off their campaign in style
