Kilkenny player nets hat-trick on busy night of FAI Cup action

Thomastown's Colm Whelan was in flying form for Bohemians on Friday evening
It was a night to remember for Kilkenny footballer Colm Whelan as he scored three times in Bohemians 7-0 success over Killester Donnycarney in the FAI Cup Second Round at Dalymount Park on Friday night.
The former Thomastown United sensation who has had previous spells with UCD and Derry City scored twice from the penalty spot and again with 10 minutes remaining as Bohs proved too hot to handle for their Leinster Senior League opponents.
It's the second time this season that the 25 year-old has come home with the matchball after he grabbed a hat-trick against Waterford last March and prior to last night he had only added one further goal against Sligo Rovers.
Whelan will be hoping this latest glut of goals can kickstart the second half of the season for him personally as the Phisborough based outfit look to continue their league title charge as they currently sit second in the Premier Division.
