Kilkenny has ranked as one of the worst four counties in the country of all local authorities in 2022, in terms of their own environmental enforcements.

Kilkenny along with Waterford, Wexford and Offaly achieved the required standard of 30% or less of the National Enforcement priorities, according to the latest Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report.

This report looks at the scale of environmental enforcement work carried out by all the local authorities.

The EPA assessed local councils performance against each of the 20 national enforcement priorities which fall into the main themes of Waste, Water Quality, Air and Noise and Governance Processes.
