Kilkenny Under 16 camogie side keep up winning run against Dublin

Leinster Under-16A Championship- Kilkenny 3-11 Dublin 1-7
The Kilkenny under-16A camogie team continued their winning run in Leinster with a 10-point win over Dublin in Urlingford on Sunday.
After a keenly-fought game, the win has earned Kilkenny a place in the Leinster final in a fortnight’s time.
The opening exchanges saw both defences on top and although Kilkenny had the benefits of the elements, it took until the 14th minute for Amy O’Shea to open the scoring with a fine point from play. This led to a period of dominance for the local girls and further points from Emma Hogan and Grace Farrell were added before a fine Amy O’Shea goal in the 19th minute gave Kilkenny a six point lead. Dublin did open their account with a free from Caelfin Hannigan, but further scores from Amy O’Shea (2) and Aisleann Mullally saw the home side lead 1-6 to 0-1 at the break.
While Dublin would have hoped for a fast start to the second half, it was Kilkenny who largely put the game to bed with a further 1-1 within three minutes of the restart courtesy of a Holly Ryan point and a smart finish by Grace Farrell. The sides largely traded scores for the next 20 minutes, but a smart finish to the net by sub Sophie Keary saw the scoreline stand at 2-10 to 1-5 with five minutes remaining.
Kilkenny however didn’t yield any further ground and a late goal from Aisleann Mullally followed by an Amy O’Shea pointed free saw them emerge winners by 10 points at the end. Best for a Kilkenny side on the day were Mairead Duggan, Emma Hogan, Eva Tynan, Aisleann Mullally and Amy O’Shea with all others contributing to a convincing win.
