Large crowd gathers at Kilkenny landmark for significant celebration

From this week's Village Notes
There was a big turnout at St Fiacre’s Well in Kilferagh, Sheastown on Sunday afternoon for the annual mass to commemorate St Fiacre, who founded a monastery at the site back in the Sixth Century.
St Fiacre, who is recognised as the patron saint of gardeners and taxi drivers, later sailed to Meaux in France, later to be renamed Saint-Fiacre, where he established a church and a hospice for travellers. In 1999, to acknowledge his love of flowers and herbs, a garden was set up in the National Stud in Kildare.
