Large Kilkenny protest held as local community fight their corner

The Kilkenny community has shown its opposition to the Ballynalacken Wind Farm
A large protest took place in Ballyouskill on Sunday as the local community continues its opposition to the proposed Ballynalacken Wind Farm.
Locals in the area blew their car horns in opposition to the proposed development.
The final public meeting will take place in the CYMS Hall in Ballyragget, tonight (Monday, April 28 at 8pm) and the group will collect further submissions afterwards.
Meanwhile, Independent, Cllr Maurice Shortall has called on Kilkenny County Council ask the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne to publish an update of the planning guidelines for wind turbine development.
In a motion set to be put forward at Monday's Plenary meeting of Kilkenny County Council, the North Kilkenny representative said: "This has been held in reserve since 2006 and has been a divisive matter in communities across the country and needs to be published now not only for the benefit of Kilkenny but for the benefit of the entire country."
