People in Kilkenny urged to stay safe!

The road is partially blocked on the outskirts of Kells Village just past Kells Priory. Drivers are asked to drive with extreme care in the area.

Meanwhile, council crews are working to clear a major roadblock on the main road from Thomastown to Inistioge, not far from the outskirts of Thomastown itself.

Cllr Deirdre Cullen says that crews are working hard to clear the obstruction.

The impact of Storm Éowyn hasn't just been felt on the roads. In Kilkenny, over 11,000 homes are without power across the county.

ESB Networks says "extreme, damaging and destructive" winds associated with Storm Éowyn have continued to cause widespread and extensive damage to the electricity network across the country with over 715,000 homes, farms and businesses without power, as of 8am.
