LATEST: What we know as flooding causes severe disruption to County Kilkenny

Kilkenny County Council are advising drivers and pedestrians to take extreme care

The clean up effort is underway across County Kilkenny after days of flooding disrupted travel, business operations and family life.

After Storm Chandra hit the country on Monday and Tuesday, subsequent days of severe flooding left parts of Graignamanagh, Inistioge, Thomastown and some isolated parts of the county under water.

A Status Yellow rain warning issued by Met Eireann ceased at midnight on Friday.

LATEST: Inistioge Village has opened to traffic while Thomastown has partially re-opened.

The Quay along with Station Road/Marshes Street in Thomastown were impassable for much of Friday.

Meanwhile, flood water is still rising slightly on the quay in Graignamanagh with the local authority asking people to avoid the area.
