Leinster SHC- Main Talking Points

Kilkenny 1-24 Wexford 2-20
MAIN MAN
Mikey Carey (Kilkenny)
The Young Irelands man was only appearing in his second game since returning from injury and he had a big impact. The marauding wing back scored a point from play but it was his forceful play in defence that helped spark the second half Kilkenny revival. TJ Reid, Paddy Deegan and Eoin Cody were others that put in big displays.
HIGHLIGHT
For a stage in the first half, Wexford led by five points and a Leinster Final spot looked a world away for Kilkenny supporters but the way the Cats responded and really took the game by the scruff of the neck was very positive.
TALKING POINT
Kilkenny remain the only unbeaten team in the championship after back to back narrow victories over Dublin and Wexford yet there's still a sense that they haven’t hit the type of form that will be required if they want to challenge for another All-Ireland title but time remains very much on their side.
TURNING POINT
Kilkenny’s only goal arrived from a hotly disputed penalty that appeared to be well outside the square but TJ Reid wasn’t complaining when he drilled the shot past Mark Fanning for a score that put five points between the teams entering the final quarter.
WHAT’S NEXT
Kilkenny will now face Dublin in the Leinster Final on Saturday, June 8 in Croke Park while Wexford can look forward to an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final against either Laois or Offaly.
