Leinster SHC- Main Talking Points

Kilkenny 1-20 Carlow 1-20
Main Man
Owen Wall (Kilkenny)
There are many players on the Kilkenny squad who won’t be too impressed with how they performed but if anyone stood up to the mark it was Owen Wall as he contributed 1-3 from play. Saturday was the O’Loughlin Gaels man’s first championship start but he already looked lively in the games with Antrim and Galway and his exceptional pace which he used to great effect when scoring the first half goal gives the Cats an extra dimension in attack.
Lowlight
It has to be taken into account that Kilkenny played the majority of the game a man less than their opponents but even still the way the Cats let the game slip away from them in the final quarter will be a bit concerning for the management team.
Talking Point
17 wides is definitely a black mark alongside the Kilkenny display with the majority of them coming when all was going swimmingly inside the opening ten minutes and another few scores added to the total would have surely broken the hosts spirit at that point.
Ref Watch
While the red card to Killian Doyle looked to be justified, there were still a number of decisions including the awarding of the last free that Kilkenny may feel went against them.
What’s Next
Kilkenny now face Dublin in a huge top of the table matchup in Parnell Park on Saturday night at 6pm.
