Drivers travelling on the Johnswell Road near the Pococke Golf Course in Kilkenny are being advised to approach the area with caution due to a fallen tree on the road.

Earlier, a fallen tree was blocking the road in the Templepatrick area of Clara.

Crews are understood to be en route to remove both trees.

Further fallen trees as well as loose debris and wires are expected in parts of County Kilkenny as the evening progresses with inclement weather hitting most parts of the country.

OVERVIEW - Met Éireann has issued weather warnings to a number of counties as very strong winds and torrential rain hit.

Counties Cork, Kerry, Wexford, and Waterford were issued Yellow Warnings on Tuesday and now Galway and Mayo have been added as localised flooding could be a possibility in some areas.

The warnings are in place from until approximately 8pm this evening (Thursday).
