Kilkenny is the best place to live, work and run a business, Nore Valley Park owner says
Kilkenny is the best place to live, work and run a business, Nore Valley Park owner says in the run up to the free ‘Live, Work, Visit, Invest Kilkenny’ showcase which takes place next month in the Marble City.
Gareth Alcorn grew up on the North Coast of Ireland and has lived and travelled and worked all over the globe. But Kilkenny is now very much home for the owner/operator of Nore Valley Park.
“To me, Kilkenny is the best place to live, work and run a business. We have so many visitors who are repeat visitors or are here for the first time and travelling around Ireland from abroad. What I hear over and over again from them is how beautiful the city is. We have all these medieval streets and buildings, the history and the culture. There is so much to do,” Gareth said as the countdown begins to the free, ‘Live Work, Visit, Invest Kilkenny’ showcase at St Canice’s Cathedral on Saturday, November 7.
“So many people only have a one or two day stop here but there is so much to do here. When they’re going, they comment how they wish they had longer in Kilkenny. We have great food – two Michelin restaurants. We have such an array of food, showcased through Savour Kilkenny.
“We have a fantastic food culture and we’re the Arts & Crafts Capital of Europe with fantastic craft businesses and craft markets where we can watch things being made. We’re blessed with so many outdoor activities from Graignamanagh and the river, the cycling and the mountains. Then you’ve the history and culture of St Canice’s and the Castle, Butler House and so many beautiful places. There really is something for everyone.
“Time and time again people refer to how friendly people are here. I find that as being from outside Kilkenny and running a business here. There is such great interaction and cooperation between businesses.
“The people who live here all want to support you and get on board. It’s great having a family here, there’s great community here between the GAA, the field days, the community events, the schools, the little markets etc. It’s while Ireland is known and loved across the world for this and Kilkenny personifies the best of all of that.”
