Main Talking Points- Leinster SHC Final

Kilkenny 3-28 Dublin 1-18
MAIN MAN
Adrian Mullen (Kilkenny)
You’d be forgiven for thinking that Adrian Mullen had been playing week on week but the Shamrocks man hasn’t played a game since going off injured in the first half of the Leinster Championship opener with Antrim on April 21. The classy forward didn’t show any sign of a lack of sharpness as he nonchalantly scored seven points from play during the 63 minutes he was on the field on Saturday.
TURNING POINT
It only took three minutes for Kilkenny to move into total control with Eoin Cody’s goal really denting Dublin hopes and from that point on, it was exhibition stuff from the Cats as they scored at will.
TALKING POINT
One can only wonder how Dublin went from being on the verge of a sizeable round-robin success at Kilkenny’s expense in Parnell Park a couple of weeks ago to producing a very weak effort at GAA HQ? Kilkenny can only beat what’s put in front of them but there’s no getting away from how disappointing the Dubs were. The massive acres of room that Kilkenny enjoyed throughout the first half was mind blowing and on this evidence Dublin look a beaten flush going into the All-Ireland series.
HIGHLIGHT
The way Kilkenny ruthlessly put the result beyond any doubt was a big positive and having 10 different players getting on the scoresheet was a promising sign too as they exposed Dublin’s limitations time and time again.
WHAT NOW?
Kilkenny now go straight into an All-Ireland Semi-Final on Saturday July 6 while Dublin look to resurrect their season in an All-Ireland quarter-final on Saturday week in Thurles.
