Motorist in Kilkenny amongst many caught speeding today on National Slow Down Day

In the first five hours of National Slow Down day, GoSafe checked the speed of 28,569 vehicles and detected 120 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

Amongst them, a motorist was detected doing 141km/h in a 120km/h zone on the M9 at Coolmore, Knocktopher, County Kilkenny.

Other motorists detected travelling over the speed limit today include:

• 119km/h in a 80km/h Zone on the N4 Ballydowd, Lucan, Dublin

• 83km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Dublin Road, Cavan, Cavan

• 78km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the N4 Drishoge, Carrick-On-Shannon, Roscommon

• 130km/h in a 100km/h Zone on the N4 Greatdown, The Downs, Westmeath

• 76km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the N25 Grahormack, Tagoat, Wexford

• 125km/h in a 100km/h Zone on the M50 Tymon North, Dublin 24, Dublin

• 149km/h in a 120km/h Zone on the M6 An Carn Mór, Thiar Órán Mór, Gaillimh

• 61km/h in a 50km/h Zone on the Cork Street, Dublin 8, Dublin

• 73km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Clones Road, Monaghan, Monaghan
