Following confirmation of a number of clerical changes and retirements across County Kilkenny, it is now known who Fr Jim Murphy's successor will be in St Canice's Parish.

Outgoing Clara Parish Priest Fr Willie Purcell will take up the mantle upon Fr Murphy's retirement in August.

Fr Purcell is no stranger to Kilkenny City, being a native of the St Patrick's Parish and he has periodically taken mass in the city region over the years.

Earlier this month, Mayor of Kilkenny Andrew McGuinness took to the altar to acknowledge Fr Jim’s lifetime of service to the people of Kilkenny. The popular priest, has served across several parishes in his time here.
