Plans lodged for development on large convent site in Kilkenny
Sophia Housing Association CLG have lodged plans with Kilkenny County Council seeking to change the use of the existing three-story Presentation Convent on College Road in Kilkenny City into 14 apartments.
Seven one-bedroom two-person apartments are planned over the three floors, as well as two two-bedroom three-person apartments, one two-bedroom four-person apartment, two three-bedroom five-person apartments and two three-bedroom six-person apartments.
Permission is also being sought to develop new semi-detached & terraced dwellings (gross floor area = 632.4m²) on the site.
Also sought is permission for the relocation of existing stained-glass windows and permission for the demolition of the existing single-storey extension to the side of the building.
A large number of additional site and refurbishment proposals are contained within the plans.
The planning application is currently awaiting validation from Kilkenny County Council.
Upon validation, a decision is expected by January 25, 2024.
