Plans lodged for 'restaurant and takeaway' at unit in Kilkenny City

The planning application is awaiting validation from Kilkenny County Council
Hung Thai has lodged plans for the ‘change of use’ of an existing shop to restaurant and takeaway in Kilkenny City.
The development address is listed as Unit 3 - formerly O’Brien’s Butchers in the Market Yard.
Also sought is permission for internal alterations, external signage and all associated site works.
The planning application is awaiting validation from Kilkenny County Council.
Subject to validation, a decision is expected by August 20, 2026.
The former operator of the unit, Kilkenny butcher Gerry O'Brien, retired last year and closed the unit last September.
He had been operating from the Market Yard since 1987.
His son James continues to operate the O'Brien Butchers unit in Loughboy.
