Plans to bring Clover Sports and Social Club (including grounds of almost ten acres, sports pitches and a social club) in Ferrybank in South Kilkenny back into community use are advancing.
Over the years, with the demise of the Clover Meats company and a dwindling membership of the social club, the facilities of the club had fallen into disuse.
Some time ago, the trustees of the facility made an approach to officials of Kilkenny County Council and the latter agreed in principle to take possession of the facility.
The use of the facilities for the recreational use of the community is a condition of that transfer.
At present this site is zoned as ‘Active Open Space’ in the Ferrybank-Belview Local Area Plan 2017.
Work on a masterplan for the Clover Sports and Social Centre and its grounds is expected to proceed in parallel with the new Ferrybank-Belview Local Area Plan.
That Clover Centre masterplan and extensive public consultation on same is expected in 2025.
