Planning application from Langton's Hotel Ltd submitted to Kilkenny County Council

Plans have been lodged seeking permission for the provision of 40 additional bedrooms at Langton's Hotel, 67-72 John Street, Kilkenny City.

According to plans, the bedrooms will be contained within a new building that will be three storeys above the existing carparking area.

Other items planned within the building include: storage, staircases, a lift and an entrance hall together with all ancillary works situated in the existing car park to the rear.

According to the cover letter submitted with the application, "Langton’s now requires more accommodation to support conferences, events and weddings to make the whole model sustainable.

"The addition of these extra rooms will underpin the current business, increase the accommodation offer in Kilkenny and sustain and increase employment at Langton’s.

"The additional large scale investment will also maintain Langton’s as a major commercial anchor and encourage other investment in the John Street area."

This site is situated adjacent to the city wall, listed as part of a recorded monument subject to a preservation order.
