Popular Kilkenny mural wall vandalised and daubed with anti-IPAS graffiti

'The Closh Times' mural wall in Kilkenny told the history of the area and its people
A popular Kilkenny mural that charts the history and culture of the community it is located in has been vandalised and daubed with anti-IPAS graffiti.
The wall, known as ‘The Closh Times’ mural, was created as a collaborative community project and officially launched during Heritage Week in 2024.

Developed by Keep Kilkenny Beautiful in partnership with local groups, the Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) and the Kilkenny Volunteer Centre, the mural was designed by artist Graham Carew.
Its development formed part of wider efforts in The Closh area, where residents and volunteers have worked over several years to improve the space through biodiversity projects and public art.
Many of the faces on the mural have now been sprayed over with black and green spray paint while slogans including 'IPAS out' and 'goverment [sic] out' have also been sprayed over the mural.
