‘Real danger’ from falling rocks along Graignamanagh footpath

Falling rocks along a Graignamanagh path could badly hurt pedestrians, a local councillor fears.
Cllr Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere highlighted the issue, saying “stones and rocks are falling out from the ditch, from the bank, out onto the footpath.”
Describing the situation as “incredibly dangerous,” Cllr Cleere said the path is popular with walkers. He said he has a fear of what could happen.
The Graignamanagh councillor acknowledged the work the county council had done to make the area safe, but now there is a “real danger,” he said.
Funding
“I really think we need to get some funding to make that footpath safer. I have a huge fear, having seen it, someone is going to be badly hurt.”
Area Engineer, Declan Murphy, said the council are aware of the matter and have cleared away stones. He said there seems to be an issue with subsidence and water damage.
Mr Murphy said he will look at doing work under the council’s discretionary budget.
