RIP: Highly respected Kilkenny woman remembered in city parish

Expressions of sympathy have been extended far and wide to the Delaney family, Patrick Street in recent weeks following the death of Elizabeth (Girlie) Delaney, who died in Drakelands Nursing Home last month.

Popularly known as ‘Girlie’, she was the wife of former James Stephens hurler Seamus Delaney, proprietor of the renowned Delaney’s Bar, Patrick Street.

Seamus was a member of the club’s 1955 Kilkenny junior championship winning team.

Elizabeth will be sadly missed by her husband Seamus, her son Gerry and daughters Rita, Ailish and Mary and her brother-in-law Edward (Ned) and the extended Delaney family.
