From this week’s Village Notes in the Kilkenny People
Sympathies have been extended to the McCarthy family formerly of Corcoran Terrace following the recent passing of Sean McCarthy in the UK.
Sean emigrated to the UK almost 70 years ago but retained close contact with his brother Jim ‘Florrie’ McCarthy, one of the few survivors of James Stephens’ (The Village) 1955 Kilkenny Junior championship winning team. Sean was also predeceased by his sister Mary McCathy and his brothers Lou and Tom McCarthy both of whom wore the Village colours with distinction in the 1950s and 60s.
