Eamonn Langton passed away in September with tributes flooding in from all walks of Kilkenny life

One month on from the passing of much-loved Kilkenny publican Eamonn Langton, Langtons has paid tribute to the man whose name became synonymous with hospitality in the Marble City.

The legendary Kilkenny businessman and publican was, for many years, a prominent figure in Kilkenny’s community and cultural life, and a key driver of the city’s hospitality industry.

“As we mark one month since the passing of Eamonn, we remember a truly remarkable man whose presence and influence will always remain at the heart of our businesses,” Langtons posted to social media in tribute.

“Born here in John Street & following in the footsteps of his parents, Eamonn devoted so much of his life to the businesses he created & loved. His passion, determination and incredible eye for design helped shape the distinctive character of Langton’s, the Marble City Bar and Bridies (aptly named after his mother). He noticed every detail and had a rare ability to create places that felt warm, welcoming and full of personality.

“Above all, Eamonn had a wonderful zest for life. He met people with warmth, openness and without judgement, treating everyone with the same kindness and respect. His humour, generous spirit and genuine interest in others made a lasting impression on all who knew him,” they added.

“The Langton family & staff would like to sincerely thank everyone for the many messages, kind words and gestures of support received over the past month. The warmth shown by friends, colleagues, customers and the wider community has been a great source of comfort.Eamonn will be deeply missed, but his character, vision and love of life will live on in his family, in the businesses to which he gave so much, and in the many lives he touched.

“May Eamonn rest in peace.”
