RIP: Tributes to Sr Catherine Walsh, who left a lasting legacy in Kilkenny

A Kilkenny community is in mourning
The death occurred in Limerick of Sr Catherine Walsh. Sr Catherine was known to people in Kilkenny after the Little Company of Mary was invited to St Canice’s Parish in Kilkenny by Fr Pat Comerford, PP.
Sr Catherine was assigned as administrator to the new project of sheltered homes for the elderly. Arriving in Kilkenny in June 1990 to a building site, under her leadership the place took shape.
The 20 houses and part of the central building were built, with the first residents admitted in September of that year.
In 1998, Sr Catherine was awarded Kilkenny Health Care Person of the Year. She managed Troy’s Court for over 22 years until her retirement in 2012, aged 80 years.
She remained active in pastoral care to residents and to those in the daycare centre and also had a prayer group until she left to return to Limerick in November 2023.
The parish owes a great deal of gratitude to Sr Catherine for her long and dedicated service.
Her kindness, care and hard work will never be forgotten.
