Director of Services with Kilkenny County Council Tim Butler has told councillors 'about 80% of businesses' have complied with the their ruling on plastic signage following contact from the local authority with retailers.
Plastic signage made it into the local headlines just last February when elected officials were left enraged by the erection of a new shopfront in the city centre.
"There are about three (businesses) where we will be taking legal proceedings against," Mr Butler added.
Cllr Sean Ó hArgain condemned those who flout the rules but emphasised the importance of praising the city’s positive shopfronts and displays.
