The main talking points as Kilkenny maintain winning start to Leinster Championship

Kilkenny 4-25 Offaly 2-16
MAIN MAN
TJ Reid (Kilkenny)
Kilkenny’s main man continues to show that age is only a number as he notched 2-9 in a wonderful individual showing on his first championship start of the season. His two goals were predictably expertly taken and he also had a role in bringing some of the other forwards into the game.
TURNING POINT
Kilkenny were in control from the get go and once Mossy Keoghan found the net after only five minutes of play, it was always going to be an uphill task for the visitors and so it proved with the winners leading from pillar to post.
TALKING POINT
The early return from injury of the likes of Adrian Mullen, TJ Reid and David Blanchfield would have been seen as a huge positive for Derek Lyng especially with the likes of Richie Reid and Eoin Cody picking up knocks in recent weeks.
Highlight
Kilkenny were always likely to pick up the required two points especially with Offaly down a couple of players but the way they put the game to bed very early was still impressive and the supporters will be happy with what they’ve seen in the opening three games.
Lowlight
While the Cats are going about their business quietly and efficiently, there is no getting away from the fact that the Leinster Championship has been a very slow burner so far this term with Kilkenny already looking like they have one foot in next month’s final.
Venue Watch
A decent crowd turned up at Kilkenny HQ and given the very dry conditions of late and a game beforehand, the pitch looked in pristine condition for the championship clash against the Faithful County.
WHAT NOW?
Kilkenny face Dublin in a top of the table meeting in UPMC Nowlan Park on Sunday while Offaly travel to face Wexford.
